The Teacher's Tool Kit For Literacy

Sharing And Reflecting Effectively

Episode Summary

Literacy expert Sharon Callen talks about the importance of reflection and how to help students transform their thinking into talk (One of the Timeless T's: Thinker's Talking).

Episode Notes

As teachers, it is important to help our learners transform their thinking through talk. A thought can stay a thought only until it is transformed through talk. Until I can say it out loud, I can’t really clarify my thinking.

Talk as reflection, transformative talk, is often classified as one of the most under-utilised comprehension strategies.

So how do we get thoughtful, purposeful written and spoken reflection and sharing? In this episode, literacy expert Sharon Callen shares strategies to teach readers and writers how to reflect and share effectively.
